Philippines Region (A Foundation) Inc, (SIAPR) successfully held its 27th Mid-Biennial Conference last May 24-25, 2019,
at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, Iloilo City
Some 400 Soroptimists from 68 clubs spread across the nation attended the yearly event. Aside from its annual business meeting, the Mid-Biennial Conference showcased Club Awards to clubs who excelled well in any of the following Pillars of Success: Programs, Membership, Fund-raising, and Public Awareness; or for activities completed under SIPR’s identifying projects: Adopt-a-Barangay or Adopt-a-PNP WCD. The SIPR’s Live Your Dream awardee, Ms. Rhea B. Bernardez, was also be presented, and received her cash prizes from the Federation, Soroptimist International of the Americas, and from SIPR. The culminating activity for the Mid-Biennial Conference Recognition Night was held in May 25. The Ten Most Outstanding Clubs for the year was announced, based on the over-all excellence in achieving the goal of Soroptimist – the empowerment of women and girls.
The Most Outstanding Club and Most Outstanding Club President was selected from this group and had the chance to enter into the SIPR Hall of Fame.
SIPR Governor Lydia C. Co presided over the Conference, assisted by her officers: Gov-Elect Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo, Region Secretary Ma. Teresita S. Valdez and Region Treasurer Ma. Remedios V. de Leon. The event was hosted by SIPR Western Visayas District, led by District Director Ida M. Siason. Cudelia Coo, President of SI Iloilo, delivered the Welcome Message with Keynote Speaker Tina Wei-Kang Pan, President-Elect of the Soroptimist International of the Americas. Other invited Speakers were Grace Relucio Princesa, Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See, and G.H. Ambat, DEPED Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Service (PAS) and Alternative Learning System (ALS).
