Soroptimist International of Pasig

Chartered July 21, 2021

Soroptimist International of Pasig was chartered on July 21, 2021 during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, with thirteen (13) charter members. The members and officers were inducted and installed by Governor Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo and MMSED District Director Dorothy V. Cuevas, who also led the chartering under club sponsor Soroptimist International of Mandaluyong.

Member orientation was held once a month from February 2021, leading up to the Chartering and Ceremony of Candles held via Zoom on July 21, 2021, with region Membership Pillar Chair Marivic Paras. Governor-Elect Gigie Penalosa of SI Mandaluyong presented the gifts to Charter President Susan J. Macion which included the club banner and the gavel and hammer.

Except for Charter President Susan, most of the members have not met anyone face-to-face, as all orientation and subsequent meetings were held via Zoom.

SI Pasig, as with any new club, struggled during its first three years but with the determination and persistence of its officers and members, the club was recognized as Top 3 Promising Club by the end of the Biennium 2022-2024 during the May 2024 SIAPR Region Conference. SI Pasig was also recognized several times by its partner Pasig City Central Police Station through its Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) and Station Community Affairs and Development Section (SCADS) for its contribution, especially during Women’s Month and its outreach programs.

The club, now ably led by its 2024-2026 President, Atty Norieva “Nikki” de Vega, will continue its mission of helping women and girls live their dreams through its own ACCESS TO EDUCATION (A.T.E.) program, SIPAG or SI Pasig Assistance for Girls.

SIPAG was formally launched during the second anniversary celebration of SI Pasig on July 22, 2023. Under ATE's Adopt-a-Scholar program, SIPAG provides fixed monthly allowances to deserving students with financial need to support their daily expenses such as transportation cost, internet load, and/or books/school supplies, through our fund raising, solicitation and benefactors.
